Toastmasters Spring 2006 Contests

Toastmasters Contests have started again this year. This spring I will compete in the Evaluation Speech Contest and the International Speech Contest. In the Evaluation Speech Contest, I present a three and half minute evaluation of a speech presented by a pattern speaker brought in for the occasion. The contestants are given five minutes after watching the pattern speech to prepare an analytical and motivational evaluation. This speech has four levels Club, Area, Division and District.

My club evaluation contest was held last Thursday, and guess who won?

The International Speech Contest consists of a seven minute speech on a topic of my choice. The general trend is inspirational/motivational subjects. I am signed up to compete in two clubs, one on Sunday Feb. 26th and the other on March 2nd.

Sasha Cohen Winning Her Olympic Silver Medal

Go Sasha!

There is something utterly beautiful about a woman doing what she is completely gifted at and passionate about. Sasha Cohen is all that.

Olympic Athlete stories are some of my favorite sources of inspiration and one of the books I enjoy dipping into now and then is Awaken the Olympian Within. If you ever get a chance to read it, you'll truly understand that circumstances have very little to do with how well we can achieve our dreams.

It's funny, I bought the book for $1 at a Goodwill store. I hope it wasn't a sign that someone stopped being inspired.
